01. Make a List 

Make a list of items that you don’t want to forget. Write them down or note it down on your mobile. Week before is perfect and then you can update your list within that. This is to ensure that you will not miss any place to visit or thing to forget.

02. Sign up for early flight deals

You can easily save money by signing up for flight deal. When you travel overseas, your flight(s) will likely be your biggest expense. Websites like The Flight Deal, Scott’s Cheap Flights, and Secret Flying are there for flights offers only.  You can observe flight deals straight to your inbox around the world in seconds. Also be sure to sign up for airline newsletters, since that is where they will announce their sales first! 

*make sure to clear your browser cookies when you surf for ticket offers on each and every time when you leave the site, they will eventually track you and it might affect for your prices. 

*You can also earn travel points if you buy your tickets online. It will be a great deal if you travel often. Most of the companies offer discounted prices too.

03. Don’t over plan your journey

Over planning will ruined your trip, sometimes it will put a great weight on your head. Let your days unfold naturally. Let the day fill as on your list. It will flow smoothly because you will automatically remember your listed items, things to do etc. Let the day to take you to the best way.

04. Visit the local tourism office

Easiest way to obtain updated data because they know about everything going on in town. They can point you to free activities, special events happening during your stay, and everything in between. They even offer discounts on attractions and transportation. It is their job to help you experience the destination better. It’s amazing how many travelers skip this when they are visiting somewhere. This is probably one of the most underused travel source in the world. Get their help !

05. Get a travel insurance

Travel insurance is the most important thing in your journey. If something goes wrong, you don’t want to be out thousands of dollars in bills. It will be there if you get robbed, flights get cancelled, you get sick or injured, or have to be sent home. It’s comprehensive and, for just a few dollars a day.

06. Take pictures of your luggage & clothes

In case of an emergency, if your luggage gets lost then you have a proof. It will help you to identify and use as a proof to show the authorities. Another thing is when you reimburse your travel insurance the process become easier. 

07. Pack light

Believe me and leave half of the clothes which you already packed. You won’t need as much as you think. As in 01. cut it in half and then only pack the essentials. It’s OK to wear the same t-shirt a few days since you can wash it and wear. 

08. Buy a small backpack/suitcase

Maximum 70 liters is desirable. By purchasing a small backpack, it will be forced you to pack light. Avoid carrying too much stuff. You can take your camera bag and equipment in another. 

09. Small Towel

You will never know when you will need it, whether it’s at the beach, on a rain, or just to dry off. While many hostels and motels offer towels, you never get to know the value of it. 

10. Take an extra debit/credit card

In case you get robbed or lose your money, it’s always good to have a backup money source. I once lost my vault and had a bad nightmare in a strange city. Luckily, I had an extra card in my backpack. Keep in mind to keep your extra card separately.

11. Always use a lock

When you stay in dorms, airbnbs, as a hobbit put a lock on your stuffs. Carry a small combination lock or use a luggage, backpack which came with a lock. 

12. Take only a desirable amount as pocket money

Limit the amount of cash and bank cards you carry. If something does happen, you can easily recover. Take one credit/debit card with you. It will also help you to limit your unnecessary spending.

13. Carry a basic first-aid kit

Few first-aids like band-aids, antibacterial cream, and ointments for minor cuts and scrapes will help you as a little doctor. You never know when you’re going to need it. Sometimes it will hard to find out some first-aid when you need it. So be prepared. Take extra face masks and sanitizers too.

14. Stay in hostels

The main advantage is meet new people. Also they are cheap, organize events, and you can share your experience too. Plus, hostel bars sell cheap beer. 

15. Be open to strangers

Say hi to people on the road share your smile. Turn strangers into friends. You just might make some lifelong friends all around the world. Isn’t that a good thing?

Ask about the ingredients later. Just put it in your mouth and see if you like it. Test all the food that you will meet. Do not miss out some unusual and delicious local traditional meals. You can find out some awesome cuisines from “culinary travellers”  as I do.

17. Use a map

Don’t be afraid to use a map or ask for directions and look like a tourist. Google maps is the best option for you. It helps you get to where you need to go. 

18. Avoid taxis

Never take a taxi unless you absolutely have too. User UBER or a local travel app. They will always offer you a competitive fair price and a safe journey.

19. Eat at expensive restaurants during lunch

Most famous restaurants offer lunch specials featuring for a cheap amount. That’s the best time to eat out when you travel, The lunch.

20. Be Thankful

Sometimes you may probably face a language barrier when you deal with locals. They are willing to help you out, if you don’t act respectfully, you’ll end up just looking like an asshole. So be humble and get their help.

If you are a photography lover, especially in videography you need more batteries. Suit up with extra batteries & power banks. 

23. Take earplugs

To avoid noises and sleep well during your travel, earplugs will help you out. If you are planning to use public transport you should take one.

24. Be frugal but not cheap

Always Look for deals and don’t waste money. Also keep in mind not to miss out on great experiences. Time is money. Spend them both wisely. 

25. Be patient

Things will work out in the end. No need to rush. You’ll get to where you are going in due time. Travel is about the journey, not the destination.
